NEW DELHI: Nearly 25,000 illegal factories will seal in the residential areas of the capital Delhi. The three municipal corporations have completed the survey of these factories. It is believed that within a week, the corporation can start the campaign to give notice and seal to all these factories.
Recently, a list of 51,837 factories was handed over to the three corporations on behalf of the Delhi Government’s Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC). The three municipal corporations surveyed all these factories and found 25,000 of them illegal. The highest 10,023 factories are operating in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation area.
According to sources, the Commissioner of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Madup Vyas had recently held a meeting in this regard with all the Deputy Commissioners, in which instructions have been issued to give notice to the factories located in the residential area and to seal them.
Some sources of the corporation believe that due to Independence Day the factories running in the residential area can get some time to spare. Large number of police forces will be required to run sealing campaigns in factories. However, there has been trouble getting the first police force before Independence Day. This may lead to a hindrance to the corporation in starting an immediate campaign.
Pollution and major reasons
Factories running in residential areas have been known to be the major reason for pollution and jam. Due to these factories, air and groundwater are also polluted. That is why this action is being taken.
In fact, factories are being run illegally in many areas of Delhi. However, their number is highest in areas such as Faith Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Mangolpuri, Shivavihar, Karol Bagh, Rohini, Kirti Nagar Indarpuri.
