Development work worth Rs 75 cr to begin in Jalandhar

JALANDHAR: Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar said that an amount of Rs 75 crore would be spent on various development works in the nine assembly segments of Jalandhar according to the directions of Punjab government.

He said that Rs 34.75 crore out of the total amount would be spent to carry out development work in urban areas and Rs 39.92 crore would be spent in rural areas.

Out of the total Rs 39.92 crore for the rural areas, Rs 23.60 crore would be spent under the ‘Smart Village’ campaign. Under the Urban Environment Improvement Program Rs 34.75 crore would be spent in urban areas. The work on these ambitious projects would start soon, he added.

While interacting with Block Development and Panchayat Officers and Executive Officers of Urban Local Bodies, Sharma asked them to submit the estimates of these developmental works by January 25, 2019. He said these works must be expedited so that it is completed in a time-bound manner.
