NEW DELHI: Satyendar Jain, Minister of Health, Government of NCT of Delhi, said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government will soon launch micro containment zones in the areas with 2-3 COVID-19 cases to tackle the spread of novel coronavirus. Delhi has recorded a surge in COVID-19 cases over the past few days. The decision came after Delhi recorded 4,033 new cases on Sunday, April 4.
Jain said that as per experts, the new COVID-19 wave is spreading rapidly but it is less severe this time. He also requested the people who have recovered from COVID-19 to donate their plasma for those who need it. He added that random testing is being conducted at a fast pace in Delhi with more than 80,000 test daily.
Jain cleared that there is no possibility of a lockdown as it is not the solution. Lockdown was imposed earlier when nobody knew the behaviour of the novel coronavirus but now people know that the spread cannot be curbed with lockdown, and hence it is not feasible. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also said earlier that if the need arises for a lockdown, it will be done with due public consultation. He had also added that if the Government of India allows the vaccination at non-healthcare facilities like schools, it can be done at a faster pace to curb the spread of the virus.
