The new plan will be ready in the next two months is expected to be implemented starting this year end. The Department of Environment, Government of New Delhi, has already asked the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, Government of India, to release a fund of Rs 20 lakh for preparation of the plan.

The Government of India in 2009 had prepared the National Action Plan on Climate Change, and had asked every state to prepare a specific plan of their own. However, Delhi submitted its plan only in 2019, which expired in 2020, and therefore Delhi is due for a new plan of action.
