NEW DELHI: The Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC), Government of India, is preparing to develop a platform for young volunteers to work with the Government of NCT of Delhi on civic and environmental concerns.
“In August 2020, Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal launched the Delhi@2047 project to transform Delhi into an egalitarian city with a per capita income similar to Singapore,” Jasmine Shah, said Vice-Chairperson, DDC. Physical infrastructure isn’t the only source of resilience and sustainability. A social infrastructure or social capital that comes together to resist a catastrophe is an important component.”
The DDC’s Delhi@2047 programme aims to build long-term collaborations with individuals and organisations in order to make Delhi a dream city by 2047. On significant projects like the City of Lakes and School Health Clinics, the DDC cooperated with the private sector and philanthropic organisations in Phase 1.
“The DDC will establish a platform with well-designed roles for young volunteers to participate in environmental and local civic concerns in the following phase.” Young volunteers will be aided and supported by the Delhi government. “Until the youth are involved and utilised meaningfully, the Delhi@2047 goal will not be realised,” Shah remarked. The Delhi Development Corporation (DDC) is a policy think tank run by the Government of Delhi that works on urban development issues alongside corporations, non-profit organisations, and civic agencies.
