NEW DELHI: Atul Srivastava, Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) appeared in the court on behalf of the Delhi Police and told that the investigation about the death of three civil services aspirants due to drowning in the basement of a coaching institute in Old Rajendra Nagar area has been transffered to Central Bueau of Investigation (CBI).
During the hearing held on Saturday, August 3, the Tis Hazari court disposed of the bail petition of the co-owners of the basement of the Rau’ IAS study circle. But, the court has given them the liberty to approach the competent court.
Earlier on Friday, August 2 the Delhi High Court has come down heavily on the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), stating a lack of respect for the law by the concerned authorities during a hearing on.
The court was hearing a petition asking for the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the incident of civil service aspirants’ deaths in the coaching centre’s basement in the Old Rajendra Nagar area.
In an earlier hearing on the petition on July 31, the court directed the Commissioner of the Delhi civic body, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), and the investigation officer to appear in the next hearing.
Counsel appearing on behalf of MCD said that the civic body has taken action against everyone responsible for the incident related to civil service aspirants’ deaths. However, no action has been taken against the Rau Coaching Centre, as it is taken as a property case.
In the hearing held on July 31, the court also asked the authorities to remove all encroachments from the Old Rajendra Nagar area. At the hearing held on Friday, the court enquired about the progress of desilting activity. The court asked the DCP if the investigating officer had looked into all the maps of the area’s water drains.
DCP informed that notices have been issued to the concerned civic body officials. It was told in court that the drainage system that we are talking about is almost non-existent, especially in the area around Rau’s IAS Circle. Due to this, roads become makeshift drains.
