Delhi launches ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign to promote use of EV

NEW DELHI: Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal, on Thursday, February 4, launched a new ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign to promote the use of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the capital. The scheme will try to educate the people of the capital to make a switch to EV and will sensitise them regarding the benefits of using EV.

CM Kejriwal said that it was long needed to spread the awareness about the EV policy of Government of NCT of Delhi and explain the various benefits of making a switch. He said that Delhi has to turn the EV adoption into a mass movement to encourage successful adoption of EVs. It aims at informing, encouraging and motivating the people to switch from old polluting vehicles to electric vehicles.

He also added that all the hired vehicles in government departments will be switched to electric alternates in the next six months. People will be offered the highest incentives on the purchase of EVs by Delhi government. Road tax and registration fess has also been waived off for the users and tenders have been floated to develop 100 public charging stations covering the whole city.
