NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has established a 24×7 flood control room to monitor the water flow at the Hathnikund barrage. This announcement was made by Atishi Marlena, Minister for Public Works Department, and Saurabh Bhardwaj, Minister for Urban Development and Irrigation and Flood Control.

This 24×7 flood control room will be monitored by the civic institutions in Delhi, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

This time the UT government is being extra careful to tackle any possible flood, like the one that happened last year. Yamuna rose to its highest level in 70 years breaching its floodplain.

Earlier, a meeting of the apex committee was convened in Delhi. In the meeting, the decision to prop up a 24×7 flood control room was taken. Officials from the National Disaster Relief Force, the Army, and all departments of the Delhi government were present in the meeting.
