Delhi govt to give Rs 5 lakh compensation to those died due to oxygen shortage

NEW DELHI: The Government of NCT of Delhi has decided to give Rs 5 lakh compensation to the families of those COVID-19 patients who died due to lack of oxygen. The Delhi government has formed a committee of six doctors to prepare a framework for the compensation. The committee will have all the rights to examine every document related to oxygen supply, stock and storage from the hospital concerned.

The official said that the committee formed will met at least twice a week either physically or through Video Conferencing at a fixed time. It will have all the powers to examine all the documents from the concerned hospitals including the records of oxygen supply, storage and stock position. It will also analyse the steps taken by the hospitals to for maintaining the sufficient oxygen with respect to the patients admitted.

It will provide the report to the Principal Secretary (Health), Delhi, every weak. Earlier, the Delhi government also announced Rs 50,000 thousand compensation for those whose primary bread earner died due to COVID-19. In addition, the government will also provide free education and Rs 2,500 will be given every month to the children whose both the parents died to COVID-19.
