NEW DELHI: Delhi government has formed 30 teams that will be carrying out an anti anti-dust campaign from October 7 to 29 to curb pollution in the city. The Government of NCT of Delhi has also released a list of 14 rules to be followed by all construction sites, so as to keep pollution under control.
Gopal Rai, Minister of Environment, Forest and Wildlife, Government of Delhi, held a meeting with the engineers of Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), along with Green Marshals of the Green War Room. In the meeting, it was decided that dust pollution has to be treated with utmost priority via anti-dust campaign. A similar campaign was carried out last year as well, this time the rules will be the same but the manpower will be increased. “These teams will be responsible for conducting inspections on constructions sites and surveil the situation. The first phase will commence from today and continue till October 29. These 30 teams will include teams of DPCC engineers which will work with 14 teams of green marshals,” Rai said.
Furthermore, Rai warned the agencies against not following the rules while engaging in any sort of construction activities. In any case, if it is observed that any department is not taking the required measures to keep the pollution in check a show-cause notice will be issued to them and they will be penalized, he added. Air pollution all the way augments during the winter season, due to the combined effect of stubble burning in neighboring states, and rest is contributed by the climatic conditions. Thus to combat pollution, Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal rolled out this anti-pollution campaign.
