NEW DELHI: An official order on Tuesday, May 7, said that the Government of NCT of Delhi has capped the charges on the transportation of oxygen cylinders. According to this order, the maximum transportation cost of a B-type oxygen cylinder has been fixed at Rs 50, while the charges for D-type and Jumbo-type have been fixed at Rs 150 and Rs 250 respectively.
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, capped the maximum price of the Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) via an order issued on September 25, 2020, which will be effective till September 30, 2021. The order also mentioned that the government of states and union territories will be required to cap the transportation charges
The Delhi government had also formed a committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (Transport) to analyse the fixing of the charges in the city by the dealers who supply the filled cylinders. The Delhi High Court has also directed the state government to look into the aspect of controlling the price on the oxygen cylinders so that the cost is capped.
