NEW DELHI: The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD), on Monday, November 30, directed all private laboratories to lower the price of Reverse Transcription- Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests in the national capital to Rs 800 from Rs 2,400. However, the examination of samples collected from homes will charge Rs 1,200. All the laboratories and hospitals have been directed to display the revised rates at a noticeable place within 24 hours.
The private laboratories have also been requested to process samples, share the results with government or any other client and update all the results on the Indian Council of Medical Research portal within 24 hours of collection of information.
Satyendra Jain, Health Minister of Delhi, had previously said that laboratories were struggling to release the reports of all tests within a day.
Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, tweeted that he has directed that the rates of RT-PCR tests be reduced in the national capital. Although tests are being conducted free of cost in government establishments, however this will help those who are getting tested in private laboratories.
