Delhi government to add 500 low floor buses

NEW DELHI: The government of Delhi on 25th, June approved a proposal for adding 500 low floor buses to the fleet of Delhi Transport Corporation apart from the 2000 standard floor buses.

The decision was taken by Delhi’s transport minister Kailash Gahlot while chairing the board meeting of DTC on Monday.

80 per cent of these new buses will be air-conditioned while rest of the 20 per cent will not have air conditioning.

The board also agreed to the extension of concessional bus pass facilities for the students of all bonafide institutes within Delhi.

The board also approved de-freezing pension benefits, that includes increase of DA after July 2014, increase in medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 500 per month per pensioner after November 2014, extension of the benefits on account of fixation and age factor and revision of pension in accordance with the recommendation of the Seventh Central Pay Commission from January 2016, that will benefit 16,000 pensioners and their families.
