NEW DELHI: Delhi’s government school teachers are to either get vaccinated by October 15 or will not be allowed to take classes. The Delhi Education Department announced on Wednesday, September 29, that teachers who have not been vaccinated would not be allowed to attend schools and their absence will be marked as unpaid leave.

Udit Prakash Rai, Director of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, in a letter to district education officials emphasized the administration of vaccines to prevent the spread of coronavirus. He mentioned how schools under the Directorate of Education have reopened in a phased manner and are operating as per the directives of the Directorate.

The Capital has reopened schools for students of Classes 9 – 12. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority announced that the schools in New Delhi may be considered for reopening for students of nursery to Class 7. However, the authorities will only make the decision once the coming festive season has ended.
