NEW DELHI: The Delhi State Election Commission (SEC) has launched a theme song to generate awareness among the voters to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming local body polls on Sunday.
The SEC is reaching out to voters with the help of radio, TV, social media, outdoor media and newspaper, aiming to increase voter participation in the upcoming New Delhi Municipal Corporation elections, which will take place on December 4. The election body has introduced a theme song for this with the tagline ‘Loktantra ka Samman Karen, Aao hum matdan karen’, and is also taking the help of a cartoonist Irfan for this purpose.
Printed messages are also being displayed on auto rickshaws to spread awareness in every nook and corner of the city. The election body is also airing radio jingles through FM radio channels.
Vijay Dev, State Election Commissioner, said that the commission has launched the campaign to raise awareness through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube to maximise voter participation in the local body elections.
SEC has also directed all the district election officers (DEOs) to organise SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) activities. In line with the instruction of SEC, all DEOs are organising slogan writing, mehndi and rangoli making competitions, ‘nukkad natak’ and quiz contests in schools and community areas.
