NEW DELHI: A sustained increase in the water level in Yamuna witnessed by the national capital could result in water shortage as three water treatment plants in Delhi have been closed due to water logging.

Due to the recent spell of rainfall, Yamuna has been running way over the danger level resulting in water logging in the adjacent areas. Yamuna water has reached the premises of the Red Fort. Many services, including medical facilities, crematoriums, temples and shelter homes have also been affected due to severe water logging.

Due to the gravity of the situation, Delhi Government has decided to cut down its water supply by 25 per cent due to the closure of the Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla water treatment plants which could result in a water shortage.
