NEW DELHI: Rajnath Singh, Minister of Defense, Government of India, listed two critical border infrastructures on Tuesday, December 29, ensuring that it is a key priority to boost India’s military readiness. While addressing the nation, Singh mentioned 24 bridges and three roads, built by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in four states and two union territories.
The main attraction was the inauguration of a 140-ft double lane modular bridge, which is built at the height 11,000 ft in Sikkim’s Dokala at Flag Hill, and the Chisumle-Demchok Road at Umling La Pass in Ladakh. Singh stated that India would not have been able to respond back strongly to the adversary, while referring to eastern Ladakh standoff, without appropriate infrastructure development.
He further added that these development projects are not only for strategic needs but will also substantiate equal participation from remote areas. These defense infrastructures play a pivotal role in building a strong and prosperous nation. The construction of roads, highways, tunnels and bridges are also very significant keeping in mind the security needs of the country.
