NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on January 18, presented its sustainable development-oriented budget. The budget has allocated Rs 2922 crore for the year 2022-23. The focus has been on the development of Narela, Dwarka, and Rohini.
The DDA said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the construction of urban extension road – II as a national highway. This road will improve connectivity between the sub-cities of Dwarka, Rohini and Narela. An official said that by connecting the major national highways, the road will make a significant contribution to reducing heavy traffic congestion in Delhi and improving air quality.
In the budget, the DDA has also made provision of Rs 47.49 crore for construction of sewage water drain at Sector – 8, Dwarka. The sewage water drain will help in discharging of drain water from the airport, in development and rehabilitation of trunk drain 2 and trunk drain 5. The drain water will also be reused for horticulture purposes. This project, when completed, is expected to address the issue of waterlogging near IGI airport during heavy rainfall.
