BHUBANESWAR: Odisha has over one crore adults fully vaccinated against COVID-19, stated the Health and Family Welfare Department on Monday, October 18. The CoWIN portal indicates that over 3.43 crore vaccines have been administered in the state so far. Odisha has been treading steadily with a fast-paced vaccine drive.
Other states such as Punjab, Haryana, Telangana and Haryana still have to cross the three-crore mark. However, states such as Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have better vaccine administration stats, ranging between 5.54 crores to over 11.99 crores.
Bijay Mohapatra, Director of Health Services, Government of Odisha, said that all individuals in the Bhubaneswar and Berhampur Municipal Corporations have received at least one jab. Moreover, 3,540 villages have successfully administered at least one dose to the eligible population under their jurisdiction.
India needs to pick up the pace of its vaccination drive to cover all eligible persons with at least a single dose at the earliest.
On Monday, Odisha administered over 2.64 lakh doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and reported 340 fresh cases of COVID-19, taking the overall tally to 10,35,973, informed the Information & Public Relations Department on Tuesday.
