MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) rolled out a home-vaccination initiative for bed-ridden people against coronavirus on an experimental basis from July 30. Initially, the drive will be carried out in the K-east administrative ward, Mumbai, which encompasses the western suburbs of Andheri East, Marol, Chakala, and others.
BMC has undertaken this initiative for those citizens who cannot be present at inoculation centers due to physical or medical reasons. These citizens will be given Covaxin doses in the presence of experts and all necessary precautions will be taken care of. A medical certificate will also be provided stating that those vaccinated at home will have to remain bed-ridden for the next six months. This has to be submitted to the administration along with the person’s consent, a BMC official said. BMC has asked people to provide their email address, name, contact number and addresses if they wish to avail the home vaccination facility.
