NEW DELHI: Ayurveda, along with standard Allopathic treatments, can prove effective against the novel coronavirus infection, found a study conducted by the Department of AYUSH, Government of Gujarat. The officials said on Tuesday, June 1, that the study was held with the approval of an expert Allopathic committee and was conducted on two groups of patients admitted in a 1200 bed facility in the state.
The researchers said that while one group (Group A) was given standard allopathic treatment, the other group (Group B) provided with government-approved set of Ayurvedic and Allopathic treatment. The study found out that Group B recovered faster and their symptoms were also relived faster than that of Group A. The set of medicines given to Group B were administered for 28 days, or until they tested negative for COVID-19. Patients in Group A recovered in 12.19 days on an average. the period was 7.85 days for Group B, the study found.
The study also mentioned that no one in Group B reported worsening of symptoms or any need for hospitalisation and there was no death, with an average recovery period of zero to three days. On the other hand, in Group A, no patient recovered from the infection in three days. The state government said that the ayurvedic treatment, given along with allopathic medicines, has shown effective results. It also added that 26 patients had given their consent for conducting the study.
