Coimbatore to take action against illegal hoardings

COIMBATORE, Tamil Nadu: The district administration in Coimbatore has decided to launch a special drive against the illegal hoardings and people responsible for putting these hoardings under the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act.

In a recent incident, three people lost their lives while installing one such hoarding on the outskirts of Coimbatore. The incident took place on Thursday.

Kranthi Kumar Pati, District Collector, highlighted that the steel structure used in removing these massive hoardings is expensive, and cost of the same will be recovered from the landowners and advertising agencies responsible for putting up such illegal hoardings. He added, “We have asked the people who have erected them illegally to remove the steel structures immediately. If we are forced to remove them, the expenses will be recovered from such people, besides registering a first information report against them.”
