COIMBATORE: The schools under Coimbatore Corporation and other government school in the city are going to get smarter by upgrading their classrooms to smart classrooms from the 2019-20 academic year. The facilities of turning classrooms into smart classrooms is going to be provided by Aram Foundation with support from HCL Foundation under its UDAY programme.

The Coimbatore Corporation launched the project on April 30, under the presence of Sravan Kumar Jatavath, Commissioner of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation, Deputy General Manager of HCL and other dignitaries

Latha Sundaram, Managing Trustee, Aram Foundation said that with financial support from the HCL Foundation, Aram would establish a model classroom in the Corporation’s higher secondary schools in Ranganathapuram and Peelamedu and elementary schools in Ganesapuram, Kovilmedu, Ganapathy and Selvapuram North and the government school in Annur.

Under the initiative, the classrooms will be provided with smart board with projector, smart learning software for students, computers and part time teachers are also going to be posted for making students and teachers familiar with the new technology.

The first objective of teachers would be to help slow learners to pick up pace and get leveled with other students then all students are going to be taught via smart learning modules by throwing open the software for the students.

Part-time teachers will help the school teachers to learn the effective use of smart class room technology in order to help the students learn more than their curriculum.

The Aram foundation, will not only look into course curriculum but it aims to help higher secondary schools’ students, by training them to easily take exams, overcome parental and teenage issues and grooming them for higher education.

It would run the programme for a year and would renew the project if the HCL Foundation gets satisfied with the impact the project will have on the students.
