BENGALURU: Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) welcomed the decision of reconstituting the Coastal Development Authority into the Coastal Development Board. KCCI said that it believes that the proposal to set up 1000 electric vehicles charging units in the state will encourage more people to shift from petrol/diesel powered vehicles to electric powered vehicles in Dakshina Kannada that currently stands second in terms of registration of vehicles.

In a press release, Isaac Vas, President, KCCI, commented that introduction of the Bill to reconstitute would fuel development in the region and that the allocated amount of Rs 66 crore for the plastic park in Ganjimutt by the government  will accelerate the implementation of the project. He appreciated the government’s move to provide a loan upto Rs 2 crore at an interest rate of four per cent to women entrepreneurs. He further added that training micro units to sell their products online would go a long way in exposing micro units to the world. According to him, outlay proposed in the budget for conversion of sea water for use in agriculture will help in meeting water needs of the coastal districts of Karnataka.

Isaac also appreciated the state’s move to upgrade 150 Government Industrial Training Institutes, with an investment of Rs 4,636 crore, and allocation of Rs 500 crore for development of Netravathi and Gurupura rivers, which he believes will help in boosting tourism potential.
