SHIMLA, Himachal Pradesh: Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stated that a policy would be framed to find alternatives to plastic within a year and industries would also be encouraged to seek substitutes for plastic. Sukhu announced that the state administration would progressively implement a comprehensive ban on the use of plastic while presiding over a state-level event in honour of World Environment Day. The chief minister claimed that the first green budget, which placed a strong emphasis on resolving environmental challenges, demonstrated his commitment to fostering a better future for Himachal Pradesh. Along with fighting single-use plastic, funds have been given for renewable energy projects, and over the next three years, the government’s fleet of vehicles will gradually be replaced with electric ones.
