MUMBAI, Maharashtra: The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has approved the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s plan to conduct cloud seeding in Mumbai to combat dust pollution. He has also mentioned a Dubai-based company that specializes in cloud seeding to help with this initiative.
Shinde has noted that while workers are properly cleaning the roads, road washing can only clean the dust from the road surface. Therefore, the BMC will soon rent 1000 tankers to wash the city roads and tackle dust particles in the air.
The Chief Minister has emphasized the need to increase the green cover in the city by planting more trees. He has instructed officials to increase the number of trees in the city.
While addressing BMC workers, Shinde has asked them to start cleanliness drives from small pockets. He has asked them to clean toilets four to five times a day, clean roads and footpaths, and use extra manpower to clean small pockets in the city.
