DISPUR, Assam: In an effort to give impetus to cleaner energy production in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Wednesday, July 20, inaugurated a 25 MW capacity Boko Solar Park at Bhalukghata, Kamrup district.
The state government has been actively working to install solar power projects in the state to enhance the cleaner energy production capacity of Assam.
Nandita Gorlosa, Minister of Power, Government of Assam; Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of Environment & Forests, Government of Assam; Nandita Das, MLA and Queen Oja, Member of Parliament, were present during the inauguration ceremony.
Earlier, CM Sarma also inaugurated a solar plant in the Udaigiri district, on July 19. On the same day, CM Sarma, in a meeting, highlighted that the state aims to produce 50 per cent of its power demand through solar energy by the year 2026. He also mentioned that the state will be able to generate 215 MW solar over the next few years.
CM posted on twitter, “Happy to inaugurate 25-MW Boko Solar Park at Bhalukghata, Boko in Kamrup district. The project will lead to enhanced solar power generation, employment opportunities, check environmental degradation and augmentation of power generation capacity in Assam.”
