BHUBANESWAR, Odisha: In response to the several cities experiencing waterlogging in Odisha, the state government has urged all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to establish Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) to address urban flooding swiftly.
Reviewing the monsoon preparedness of ULBs, Usha Padhee, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Odisha, stated that civic bodies must work proactively to address the issue of waterlogging in their respective areas.
Padhee emphasised the importance of efficient water management systems and community involvement in addressing waterlogging problems.
“We must ensure the safety and well-being of our residents by providing an immediate and efficient response to any waterlogging concerns,” she said.
The municipal authorities were instructed to involve local communities in identifying areas prone to urban flooding and to establish a dedicated helpline for addressing waterlogging emergencies.
