Citizens to get ‘Namma Bengaluru’ app by Jan 2020

BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is soon to launch ‘Namma Bengaluru’ a citizen utility mobile app on which every information related to the city’s civic authorities will be available for citizens. The app will also have an option to report any grievances to respective department.

Presently, the BBMP is in process of developing the mobile application. As the application will have a grievance reporting portal where citizens can lodge complaints regarding civic works, information about the city, upcoming events, e-khata registration and many other services will be available on the app. The app will include various departments like Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB), Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA), and Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom).

BH Anil Kumar, BBMP Commissioner, during the ‘Urban thought leaders conclave’ on Wednesday, December 25, announced about the app and said that the corporation is planning to launch the mobile app in January 2020.

Anil Kumar told The Hindu that the mobile app will facilitate citizens to reach out to various government agencies through a common digital portal. The app has been designed keeping in mind the needs of the people. He further said that the corporation will ensure that the grievance reaches the right department. The Namma Bengaluru app will also provide the citizens a suggestion box and feedback option as well.
