NEW DELHI: The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has issued the public notice inviting the Expression of Interest (EoI) for developing Nhava Island, Navi Mumbai. CIDCO said that it owns approximately 60-hectares of land in Nhava which is a peninsula with Karanjade and Thane creeks extending on three sides and faces the historic Elephanta Island.
The location is closed to the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL) project which aims to connect Sewree, Mumbai with Nhava island. As per the development plan of Navi Mumbai, this area falls into the Regional Park Zone (RPZ). Out of the total 60-hecatres of land, 30 hectares falls under the Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ).
According to the city planning agency, Government of Maharashtra, the entire parcel of land can be used for tourism, cultural and social activities and can be developed as a picnic spot.
