WUHAN: As first cases of the new chronic respiratory illness, Coronavirus, spread from China’s Wuhan city, the Chinese government has begun closing transportation links from and within the city. At least 500 people have been infected by the virus, with 17 losing their lives. Experts from the World Health Organisation (WHO) are considering whether to label the issue as a “public health emergency of international concern”.
The big move by the Chinese government has been made to contain the virus as once the Chinese Lunar year approaches, mass travel would ensue. WHO has supported the decision, expressing that it would enable the government to ensure safety in other parts of the country.
With the counts of the disease still on the rise, the scientists are still unsure about the exact severity of the disease, citing lack of information.
