RAIPUR: The Government of Chhattisgarh has decided to pay for the education of children who have lost their parents to the deadly coronavirus infection. The scheme has been titled ‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari Dular Scheme’, and is set to be implemented from this fiscal year.
Under this scheme, a scholarship of Rs 500 per month will be given to such orphaned children in Classes 1-8, and Rs 1000 per month for those in Classes 9-12. Children of both government and private schools will be eligible for the scholarship under the scheme. The state government is also trying to arrange education for those children where the main earning member of the family was lost to COVID.
The Government of Maharashtra has also declared that the state government will provide free education and a pension of Rs 5000 per month to children whose parents have died of COVID-19.
