CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Traffic Police has decided to visit the house of e-challan offenders to ensure payment of their challans. Ever since Traffic Violation Information Slips (TVIS) have been introduced, there are reports that many people did not clear their pending dues. Palak Goel, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Chandigarh Police, issued a statement saying that this move will help in clearing pending challans and identifying routine violators.

Two teams have been formed of two members each. The traffic police will first target the persistent offenders, who have the most number of pending challans against them. Police teams will be equipped with body cameras to record their visits, which will remain switched on to ensure that any kind of bribing and illegitimate activities are ruled out.

Moreover, they will carry their e-challan machines with them on each visit, and cash payments will not be accepted. The police teams will undertake the sweep within Chandigarh. As for TVIS, it is issued for violations caught on cameras, installed at various traffic signals. The violation slips are sent to the registered address of vehicle owners. The teams will also counsel offenders and acquaint them with traffic rules and violations.
