MYSURU: The Government of India has promised to increase Karnataka’s allocation of COVID-19 vaccines doses from 65 lakhs to 1 crore per month. Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai said that Karnataka is currently getting 65 lakh vaccines on an average per month, but the number will increase to 1 crore as assured by the Centre.
CM Bommai has further urged the Centre that the allocation be increased to 1.5 crore from September which will facilitate administration of 5 lakh doses every day. Due to fear from third wave and increase in COVID-19 cases around the state in Kerala and Maharashtra, CM Bommai had directed the authorities in the border districts of Karnataka for strict supervision.
All the required instructions have been provided to prioritise the vaccination to those people who are living in border districts. The official said that the decision has been taken by the state government to prioritise the vaccination of people living within 10 kilometre from the state’s border.
