AHMEDABAD: In lieu of the worsening COVID-19 crisis in the state, a team of the central government will visit Gujarat on Friday, July 17. The team will actively engage in reviewing the state’s response to the pandemic.
The team will comprise of Dr Randeep Guleria, Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Vinod Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, Dr Balram Bhargav, Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Arti Ahuja, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The team first visited Surat on Friday morning and conducted a review meeting with the local officials, including the Collector and Municipal Commissioner of Surat Municipal Corporation. After the review meeting, the team will move on to a field visit and then travel to Ahmedabad to review the steps taken by the administration to contain the virus spread. According to a release by the Government of Gujarat, the team will also hold a meeting with Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister, Gujarat, in the evening.
