Callers get busy tone on second day of doorstep delivery service

NEW DELHI: Delhi government’s helpline number for home delivery of public services- 1076 received 13,783 calls, out of which 4,758 were answered till evening on the second day of the service – September. 624 appointments were fixed and 74 home visits were completed by the evening.

The government statement said that messages were sent to 8,101 callers, whose calls had gone unanswered. On second-day government increased the number of phone lines and operators due to heavy traffic. Government official said that by the evening of September 12, 2018, the number of phone lines will increase to 180 and number of operators will increase to 150.

Transport department received 228 requests and the revenue department issuing marriage certificate, domicile certificates got 245 requests.

Even after a day of the launch of the doorstep delivery service scheme rush could be seen at RTOs and SDM offices. An applicant said that the launch of scheme is a noble step, but it is not well executed. Some applicants said that he had to visit RTO because not even a single call made by him was successful.

An applicant said that they were asked to wait for five days for a receipt on submission applications.
