NEW DELHI: Major power PSUs BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) have announced on Monday, November 25, that the companies are planning to install battery swapping stations across Delhi to be used by two and three wheeler electric vehicles. Ola Electric Mobility Pvt Ltd will also be involved in the installation of the battery swapping stations that aim to encourage EVs in the capital.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between BSES and Ola Electric Mobility for the installation of the EV infrastructure recently. According to Ankit Jain, co-founder of Ola Electric Mobility, the private transport giant would be managing and operating the stations as a part of the agreement while BSES will be responsible for the identification of the areas where the installation of the facility would be optimal. This judgement would be made based on the usage and potential of EVs in the area. The MoU will be valid for the coming three years.
With this initiative, BSES is planning to lay a strong foundation for the transition in Indian auto sector by gradually developing a widespread EV infrastructure network across India that provides fueling options to the car owners.
