BHOPAL: Following many allegations of mismanagement in the media over the past week, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation has chosen to upgrade the city’s Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) line.
The corporation has set a nine-month deadline for completion of the project. The road from Habibganj to MP Nagar, as well as Roshanpura Square to Kamala Park, will be redeveloped and the management is developing a full project study for it (DPR). The 24-kilometer BRTS route from Misrod to Bairagarh is in need of repair and renovation, for which BMC issued a tender of Rs 26.34 crore on Saturday evening. The BRTS corridor cost Rs 329 crore to build, and at least Rs 25 crore is spent on its maintenance every year. The BRTS route between Ganesh temple and MP Nagar will be improved and redesigned now that the metro and flyover development in the area is complete.
