BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will provide a free Aahar meal for every half kilo of plastic. This initiative is in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). “The program will be launched at the Aahar center located near the BMC head office in Kalpana Square. All the 11 Aahar centers in the state capital will be included in the program,” said a BMC official.

In a day, only one kilogram of plastic will be allowed per person in exchange for two coupons for the same day. In the case of half a kilogram, plastic only one coupon will be provided.

The representative of the Touchstone Foundation at Aahaar Kendra will maintain a date-wise record through a register with the location of Aahaar Kendra, name, mobile number, amount of plastic deposited. The representative of the Touchstone Foundation will countersign the register.

The UNDP will be collecting plastic from the Aahaar Kendra on a weekly basis or whenever the bins are filled.
