MUMBAI: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s standing committee on Wednesday, August 18 gave the nod to set up 11 oxygen plants around the city. This initiative is being taken in order to be better prepared for a probable third wave of COVID-19.
According to the proposal, oxygen plants will be set up in locations such as Dahisar jumbo centre and BKC jumbo centre, Mumbai at an expenditure of Rs 204 crore. BMC has awarded contracts for installing 16 oxygen plants at nine locations in the city. However, BMC has been advised by the Bhartiya Janata Party to stay transparent in their calculations on setting up these oxygen pants. BMC needs to take heed of this.
