GANDHINAGAR, Gujarat: The ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has retained power in Gujarat Assembly for the seventh time in a row. In 2022, BJP breached its own highest-ever mark by winning 156 seats out of a total of 182 seats. While on the other hand, Congress has recorded a landslide victory in Himachal Pradesh by winning 40 seats out of a total of 68 seats.
Congress has won over 17 seats while the Aam Aadmi Party managed to win five seats in Gujarat.
The Gujarat assembly election was held in two phases. Voting under phase one took place on December 1 and the second phase of voting took place on December 5, and the votes were counted on December 8. Counting began at eight in the morning in 37 centres.
On the other hand, in Himachal Pradesh, the Congress party has won 40 seats out of a total of 68 seats as per the Election Commission of India (ECI). The hill state has followed its tradition of changing the government every five years. BJP has won 25 seats in Himachal, while the Aam Aadmi Party failed to open its account.
