BJP retains Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation

HUBBALLI-DHARWAD, Karnataka: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has retained power in Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation as both the candidates fielded for the post of Mayor and Deputy Mayor emerged victorious. Veena Bhardwada has been elected as Mayor of the urban local body, while Satish Hanagal has been appointed as Deputy Mayor. Veena Bhardwada secured 46 votes, while her rival candidates, Suvarna (Congress) and Waheeda Khanam, received 37 and three votes respectively. The second largest municipal corporation has been under the control of the BJP for the last 15 years.
