PATNA: The Government of Bihar sanctioned the amount of Rs 500 crore for the Phase 1 of Patna Metro Rail Project via the Bihar Development Authority on December 17, 2021.
The sanctioned amount will be utilised to compensate those villagers whose land has been procured for the project. The Government of India has also paid Rs 424 crores for this project so far. Moreover, 76 acres of land has already been acquired for the project and Rs 726 crore will be given to the land owners. Besides the fund from the state government, to commence the work for the Rail project, Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRC) is still waiting for the funds from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Currently, the construction activities are underway from Malahi Pakadi to ISBT Patliputra elevated corridor with a length of 6.6 km along with the stations at Khemnichak and Bhutnath. The central and state government both will bear 20 per cent of the cost and the remaining 60 per cent will be procured in form of a loan from JICA.
