BHOPAL: Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) imposed fines in 262 cases and collected the amount of Rs 42,000 on Tuesday, December 7. The fine is related to the Swachh Bharat Mission as the civic body is likely to take part in the survey which is to take place in the next three months.

The fines were imposed for littering in public places and for use of polythene products. Polythene bags made of less than 50 microns are banned in the region as the civic body is trying to sensitise people on the consequences of plastic waste. The officials said that the employees of BMC health wing also imposed fines on people not wearing masks or not following the COVID-19 protocols. All the 262 cases of fines were from across the city in all nineteen zones.
