BENGALURU: Bengaluru’s urban development gets a push under the new Amruta Nagarothana Scheme as Basavaraj Bommai, Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka, announced a special package of Rs 6,000 crores. Bommai, who also spearheads Bengaluru’s development, made the announcement as the civic polls in the city are expected to be held soon.
While talking to the press, the Chief Minister did not elaborate on what projects will be funded under the scheme. Earlier in the year, Bommai had announced 11 Amruta schemes with an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore that aimed at developing areas in and around Bengaluru.
An urban development department official said that the introduced scheme is a rebranded version of the existing Nagarothana scheme. The projects to be taken up under the scheme are yet to be finalized.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for increasing the sewage treatment capacity to save lakes in the city. He informed that the civic bodies have been actively involved in the process of removing encroachments, fencing lakes, and developing a walking path around the lake. This would also give a push to the state’s tourism.
