NEW DELHI: Bengaluru tops the list of most liveable city in India in the Government of India’s ‘Ease of Living Index’ released on Thursday, March 4. Bengaluru is followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodra, Indore and Greater Mumbai.
Among the cities with more than 1 million population, Delhi stands at 13th spot whereas Srinagar is at the bottom. The index is released by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. Shimla topped the list of cities with population less than a million, followed by Kakinada, Salem, Vellore, Gandhinagar, Gurgaon, Davangere and Tiruchirapalli. Muzaffarpur ranked at the bottom of the index among 62 cities with less than a million population. New Delhi Municipal Corporation topped the list of ‘Municipal Performance Index’ in the category of less than a million population.
Indore topped the list of ‘Municipal Corporation Index’ in more than a million population category. It was followed by Surat, Bhopal, Pimpri Chinchawad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Raipur, etc.
