KOLKATA: Amit Mitra, Minister of Finance, along with Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of Urban Development, Government of West Bengal, launched an e-governance programme on Monday, August 16. The programme will ensure building layouts, application for property mutation and trade licencing be cleared in under 15 days.
It was clarified by the Ministers that Kolkata and Howrah will be excluded from the programme as the aforementioned services are already being offered in the two cities. Applicants will be able to register and submit their documents online. All urban local bodies (ULBs) will be offering the three aforementioned services.
The Ministers also clarified that with the introduction of the programme, the beneficiaries would not have to visit government offices anymore. The Finance Minister said that the services included in the programme will benefit over 15 million people under 60 ULBs out of which, five are corporations and 55 are A, B and C category civic bodies.
