VIJAYWADA: The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has finalised the action plan on Andhra Pradesh’s Building Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP). The state is also preparing for the training of officials tasked with the implementation of the project, with support of Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (AP-SECM).
A Chandra Shekhar Reddy, Chief Executive Officer, SECM, said that the BEEP was aimed for facilitating the adoption of Indo-Swiss energy efficient technology in housing. BEE has sanctioned the Indo-Swiss BEEP to Andhra Pradesh for the implementation of the Energy Conservation and Building Code (ECBC) for residential buildings.
The building sector in India consumes more than 30 per cent of the total electricity usage of the country, including 75 per cent used in residential buildings. The energy consumption of the residential building sector has more than tripled since 2000 and is rising rapidly.
