PANAJI: On Friday, Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant launched a new software, Beach Vigil App, to raise awareness and monitor Goa’s beaches. The CM told the media that the software will assist institutions working in the beach tourist sector, and that collaboration between IT and the tourism sector will open up various opportunities in the future. He went on to say that tourism and safety growth requires a multifaceted and collaborative effort. The ecosystem will improve in the future as a result of these types of apps.
Rohan Khaunte, Minister of IT and Tourism, Government of Goa, was also present at the event. He explained the app’s utility by saying that Drishti personnel, police, and other stakeholders will be able to raise issues for the protection of tourists’ interests using the app. The administration is working on finalising an integrated beach cleaning plan. Everything from unlawful hawkers and illegal massage services to beach cleanliness would be covered by the Beach Vigil App. Khaunte claimed a few days ago that he’s been getting complaints about uncleanliness at Goa beaches.
