BENGALURU, Karnataka: To alleviate traffic congestion in the city, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is constructing an 18-kilometer subterranean tunnel road at a cost of about Rs 8100 crore, or about Rs 450 cr per kilometer.
With five entry and exit locations, the tunnel will link the Esteem Mall in Hebbal, north Bengaluru, to the Central Silk Board intersection in the city’s south.
The proposed tunnel will cut the time to communicate between Hebbal and Central Silk Board in half, from the current one hour to twenty-five minutes.
The Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) quarters at Central Silk Board, Lalbagh, Bangalore Golf Club, Palace Grounds, and the empty government property near to Esteem Mall in Hebbal are the planned entry and exit locations.
